backing up game data

Hi all,

I would like to backup some game data, to avoid playing through games all over again (particularly like Grand Theft Auto), as I need to reinstall windoze.

So, would simply backing up the relevant folders to an external hard drive, reinstall the game, and then copy the backed up files across to the program files....would that work?

Or is there a better method? Or no method at all?

Thanks
:)

Games like GTA and such usually put folders in your "My Documents" folder for the saved games. All you should need is to save those folders and then copy them back as long as they look like they have your saved game data. The saved games usually have your profile name as part of the name of the save.

Then there is one other place to look. I presume that you are running Windows 7 seeing as you are saying this. Take a look under users\"your login name"\appdata\"game name" and you may find it there.
