The British Touring Car Championship celebrates 60 years and kicks of this weekend at Brands Hatch.

With huge grids consisting of a healthy mix of Independents and the ever increasing interest of Manufacturers, close racing thanks to a system of success ballast and BoP (Balance of Performance) and comprehensive TV coverage from ITV; the BTCC is firmly back on it's feet.

32 Drivers will compete for 18 teams at 10 British venues.

Qualifying kicks off soon which you can watch live at http://www.itv.com/btcc/qualifying-live/watch-qualifying-live or follow the live timing here http://livetiming.tsl-timing.com/TOCA

Be sure to tune in to ITV4 for pretty much a full day of coverage each race weekend that includes the support races.

Anyone here planning on keeping up with this season? Who's your favourite team/driver? Who's your money on for this years title? Best Estate car, Levorg or 850??? Answers on a postcard.

Looking forward to it and hoping fellow countryman Colin Turkington can do the business! I’ll miss Gordon Shedden this year and whilst I’m unlikely to get to see any WTCR I hope he has a good season there!

It’s going to be a busy day for motorsport tomorrow - Blancpain GT, BTCC, F1, WTCR and WRC! Best time of year for a motorsport fan :)

Don't forget to check out the Japanese SuperGT too (plenty of GT3s)!

I'll confess I was behind Sutton for last season. Such a shame Turks had it taken out of his hands at the last round like that. He's a cert to be in contention again this year.

I wish all the best for Flash in the WTCR. His drives in the 15/16 finales helped cement my love for this modern era of BTCC. Will be interesting to see how he stacks up against the BTCC old guard out there. Got to see him race at Oulton last year, thankfully.

Haven't decided who to root for this year. My past love of the Sierras and Mondeos suggest I should go with the Focus but I just can't fall in love with that Shredded Wheat livery! I'm intrigued by the new Civic and really interested to see how Cammish does going from a Rear engine, rear wheeled GT type car to a Front wheeled Touring car.

Here's how Qualie went for those interested...

The Thruxton Rounds take place today.

Live coverage available from 11:15BST via ITV4

The old guard make a return to the front of the grid with Neal on pole, closeley followed by Turkington, both breaking Neal's previous lap record.

Current leader Ingram drops from 6th to 10th in the timings after falling foul of track limits on his quickest lap.

BTCC races are scheduled for 12:15, 14:35 and 17:20 but it's well worth sticking around for the support series :)

Bring your own red flags.

Sorry, Kenny.

I usually hide the qualie result behind a text link to avoid spoilers but for some reason the forum isn't displaying the post options for me to tart up my posts. As the BTCC site write up link normally contains the headline in it I decided to just mention the result.

As far as I'm aware the qualie is only shown online (on the Saturday) so I'm assuming folks have either watched it or will hear about it from Steve Rider in about an hour from now. If there's one thing I enjoy more than BTCC, it's stealing Steve Rider's thunder.

Sat qualifying only dictates the Race 1 order too. Race 2 is the result of Race 1, Race 3 is partial reverse grid of race 2. Still plenty of action for you to enjoy.

True, Steve Ryder's the man. Not really important but damn the work cars getting to the front.:)
I normally record the whole thing and enjoy it over the next few days, couple that with Freesports tv doing DTM live and VASC highlights add in the ITV Motorsports UK series and I'm sorted for all my armchair racing needs.
As long as nobody spoils it :D

DTM is live officially on Youtube (in the UK at least) with English commentary.

I watched Saturday's DTM race, it seems a shadow of its former self. The first Lausitzring round had no atmosphere or excitement for me and (only partly due to a few unpleasant crashes) such a small field.

Compared to BTCC which seems to be back in a period of resurgence (although in my opinion in need of a few big personalities) it really seems to be suffering at the moment.

I'd go back mid/late 90's to early 00's for both series at their peak.
That's why I loved the first couple of Toca games.

Yeah, great times. I went to a couple of races at Croft in that era.

And TOCA 2 and 3 were a big step in my sim racing progression too. I remember seeing that demo of TOCA 2 for the first time, the Formula Ford at Oulton Park Fosters, like nothing I'd played before!

Spent a lot of time playing 2 and 3 online on the Xbox.
