Budget gMotor 2.0 tower

I make this thread mainly as someone asked how my new everyday PC runs GTR2 at 1440p
At the time I had problem replicating best FPS I had previously seen
I was using Process Lasso rather then RunAff I have always used
Returning to RunAff did the trick and results staggered me

Max settings, 2560 ( dynamic res) 2EQx 16x ............ 120fps+ solid
FRAPS 5 minutes / 3 laps
2019-12-22 17:56:38 - GTR2 Frames: 39625 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 132.083 - Min: 110 - Max: 163 :coffee:
Look how smooth it is, not a jag, I can't get Nvidia to look this good, no flickering either

516AU - 356US - 322EU - 275GBP ...what awesome bang for buck :)

NOTE: That is example of cheapest 3200G build, I spent a bit more on case\psu, storage, motherboard and memory however performance difference would be barely anything if at all

And I bet that machine would play some other modern games pretty decently, too!

What was the difference between Process Lasso and RunAff? Why is RunAff faster? Have you tried Bill's Process Manager?

I going to try Lasso again see I can't replicate it
Could be another setting but that is only thing I changed
I want to try Bill's as well
It may be affect from running almost all apps and tools from another partition

It was a difference of almost 40fps ...I can't even understand where that much can even come from
Something happen to Afterburner OSD as well I would normally have up in screenshots but
for some reason it only works on the radeon control panel :O_o: .....some setting I changed no doubt

ABurner OSD.jpg

I still have to add Anniversary/Essentials it will take a bit of a hit but could easy turn down shadows get it back.....then test some major mods, tracks etc
Have to test my 2560 gsync compared to dynamic res
II think this will run 100 cars sprint races you know lol

I only ever brought it to browse, d/l , encode in summer so I don't kill the 3900X-RTX2080
Never expected to run this good in GTR2
Yes lots of sites do reviews " 3200G plays games !!! " hehehe but low/mid settings are not my cup of tea ;)

Few things I should have mentioned

Screenshot was 90% quality with PhotoFiltre, Fraps ran no issue, also Bandicam

Overclocking made little difference, either averaged 120fps how much more you need ?
After Ryzen Master reset:
Frames: 38514 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 128.380 - Min: 96 - Max: 152

4.1GHz - 1800MHz
Frames: 39625 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 132.083 - Min: 110 - Max: 163

So if you have regulated room temp you could use the stock cooler @ stock clocks and lose little

Loading times GTR2 starts in 5 seconds, I can get on the grid before runaff voice message has finished lol
Tracks 15-20 seconds that is with discontinued Evo M2 so again speed be about the same as the SDD in
$500 build

Have to get OSD working again as I know when I hit best fps before cpu and apu utilization were way different, stock settings only 2 cores needed 3600MHz

Funny I tried to just limit RunAff to the 2 fastest cores and it refuses to start never seen that on any CPU before ( using runaff with GTR2 ) , only 0123 will work, maybe because it has no SMT or Fabric?

Saw an interesting youtube video about OC the 3200g. Can't locate it again!
First OC the Ram as that gives you the most FPS increase in gaming.
Then OC the GPU as high as it will go.
And finally the CPU which will not do much as the APU is already get hot do to OC of Ram and GPU.
Or even leave it on boost.

Disable Windows Defender gave a 8-10% fps gain.
Doesn't do anything on my setup but supposly it can make a difference on low powered setup's?

Have you tried running modern sims like AC or PC2 on the 3200G?

Thanks
Already have 4.1GHz all cores + 650MHz + on Vega core
Really any more fps is unwarranted for gMotor 2.0
I have no interest whatsoever benching hi-end games when I have 3900X- RTX 2080 ;)

I am going to transfer all GPL/GTL/GTR2/rFactor/Race ( 1TB ) to 3200G. absolutely no reason to keep on 3900X :)
Can't wait to try GPL either , with Nvidia these days it looks hideous

Next up 100 cars

This is mod I make for every default car in GTR2 has from 60 to 100+ skins for each model
JSGME MODS 01.jpg

Don't ask me how many years it took to get any of 1.000+ working with no CTD :coffee:
Many skins would CTD with other skins, 100's ....I just found which would work and booted the rest
to archive, then I took out most of team skins so only 1 was left

GTR2 2019-12-25 14-53-00-96.jpg

If opponents does not go red means you have 100 different skins

GTR2 2019-12-25 14-53-45-80.jpg

From 100th , same GTR2 and Radeon settings as before, 5 minutes
2019-12-25 14:34:18 - GTR2 -
Frames: 27882 - Time: 300000ms - Avg: 92.940 - Min: 79 - Max: 109
Pretty decent :barefoot:

Oh, wow, I love the idea of skins for original cars. I actually spent time making a package, myself, to do just that so I could race Single Make races and have lots of liveries so they don't all look the same. I will definitely check out your set when it's ready!

What Main board are you using?
Would like to find a mini ATX or even a ITX.
That doesn't need a a older Cpu to load bios!

edit:

Forget that board I mentioned just noticed the B450 mITX version does not support Ryzen 3 at all

X570 mITX you bypass bios but they too dear to just run a 3200G

keep in mind a lot of boards these days have qflash + which does not need CPU or memory installed

Both my B450 I used qflash+ to update bios, shame they ATX

$6AU difference in price, both have 2 x M2, Wifi and Bluetooth

IF you don't need WIFI or BT here is cheap B450 mATX that has qflash+ perfect for 3200G

Flash BIOS Button: Simply use a USB key to flash any BIOS within seconds, without installing a CPU, memory or graphics card.

what follows is a little bit OFFTOPIC, so ingore if you want:

please dont understand me wrong, its an interesting topic you started,
but please allow me to comment, that if somebody wants a computer which will be able to run GTR2 or similar games, all he needs is an old office computer (i5 2generation) and a entry gpu from 2015 (like GTX950) and some 4GB ram (more is better).
As such surplus computers are running out of leasing and they are cheap (some 50US$) + another 50-100US$ for the GPU. Even 4K is possible, but without AA.
Everything better is money thrown away.

Why i am saying this, you may ask,
we should all reflect, that all our decision have an impact,
so why buy new, if there is enough stuff already produced and cheaper available

now, burn me,
or how we say in our region
duck weg

Perfectly valid point, and it's good to consider re-using stuff if it still suits your needs.

I see the API route as being ideal for someone building on an ultra tight budget. It means you can get your system up and gaming while you work towards gpu/cpu. Your upgrade options are still wide open.

Must say Durge, that thing is pretty impressive. I've paid more for crappy gpu's that wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding never mind run gtr2 at those settings. Nice one.

If all you need is a box for GTR2 sure you don;t need to spend $500AU - $350US

Fact is the things (AMD 3200G) are rockets and can easy become your everyday computer + 4K VSR with 100 car GTR2

That saves my 3900X-RTX2080 sitting idle while running gMotor2.0 tiles , browsing, downloading ...and more

I don't want to have to sit on some old generation PC doing everyday stuff

Besides I use 4 x NvME M2 SSD on both my computers .........where would I put them in old office PC ?

Personally I think it is worth the money just to save my Tower #1 not to mention power bill

Thanks for the info Durge!
Unfortunately the B450 Aorus Pro Wifi is ver expensive here in Brazil ~US $220. But some of the less boards in the series are priced much closer to US prices.

For me the two main things with this build is first low power usage. We plan to expand our photovoltaic (PV) panels from covering 40-50% of our electrical needs to 80-90%.
So are also looking to lower out energy footprint without total giving up on the things we like.

Second is that Nvidia has abandon dx9 games to some extend!
The old gmotor2 games are not looking great on Nvidia GPUs made the last many years.
Recall going from Amd GPU to Nvidia GTX 970 and while the fps was a huge upgrade the general looks was very disappointing
I do know AMD drivers got a lot of issues too But for this particular usages they are way better.
Not even sure if the older Nvidia gpu's are supporting Clamp with the current W10 drivers ?

And as durge points out it is overkill to browse on a high end gaming computer. Like I do right now.:(

+1

Yes I forgot the big one Vega 8 looks better then my RTX2080

Okay so I can buy a S/H tower has a 8800-9800 GT and GTR2 looks 100% again

Problem is those cards with a Phenom Quad ran 100 cars like slideshow most of the time, I was always turning down shadows or something else.

Show me a cheaper alternative runs GTR2 like in this thread .not Vanilla ...4K 100 cars maximum settings
I very much doubt, I just can't see a old Intel + video doing it because I used to do the same as now with
all old generations

P.S.
3200G is faster single core then my old i7-8700 :barefoot:

my harware specs are
i5 3550
12GB RAM
GTX1060Mini

i just checked
GTR2 +
FULL ANIV from here

without AA
min 60 max 90 frames @ 2560

with AA Level 4

min 45 max 85 frames

power usage 125W (everything comp+monitor)

so not your 120FPS, but thats what you get for 150US$

and now to your statements
1.
i have no problems in daily use with this computer, usually the CPU is bored, until i start to recode a VIDEO, which i do once a year

2.
yes, in an office computer is probably no a lot of space, but surely you will find place for 4 SSD

(i have 4 HDD + 1 SSD)
3.
yes, you right i cant run GTR2 (or better in my case i tend to R07) at 100 frames

but i can do run R07, with 100 cars, on 4k, with Level 1 stable over 60 frames for that money
and for that i not spend on an new CPU i bought a 65" TV where i play it on

4.
so i lost in your challenge

p.s.:
the TV i bought was also used not new, i cant go VR, get motion sick very fast

p.s.2:
i tried the other way around, by droping car number to 22, i was able to run GTR2 on 4K stable over 110 frames max was 130 frames
together with the frame rate also the power usage jump to 160W (w/o monitor some 130W)

in all my test i did not use SETAFFINITY or any other tricks
