F1 2014 Can we restart a co-op career race (F1 2014)?

Hello,
Me and my friend are playing co-op career together and the race between us is really tight.
Unfortunatelly in last race my friends game crashed while he was leading the race a second in front of me. I had to win the race by myself but it kind of ruined our championship battle... we don´t know if it is possible to quit the race and restart it in the middle of the race? Would be good to know in the future races. Hope somebody can tell me how does it work. Thank you!

A bit late I know ..........

But if the coop game is like the single player game, then you both should be able to just quit the race, back to the main menu.

Don't select 'end session' of that option is given to you, that just gives up the race, and you go to the next track.

After going back top the menu and then continuing to the race, I would assume both of you are back in the garage, ready for the race to start
