Cannot access saved data.

Hello, I lost power this morning while my PC was shutting down. Since that time, I have been able to access saved data for the game. My first error message was that the application could not sync with the Steam cloud. Then after the game started I received another error message telling me it was not able to access saved and data and did I want to try again. So, I have been trying to troubleshoot all day, starting with turning off the cloud sync within steam, rebooting several times and finally, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Unfortunately, nothing changed after the install and I still have the same problems. I am resigned to the fact that all my original saved data is lost but now I just want to start from scratch and am unable to save any of my changes. Does anyone have any ideas on what I might try?
