Can't get surround sound

Hi all, finally back in the race seat now that I have my sim rig back, but I seem to have lost the surround sound. I have checked in windows configuration that the spealers are all set up correctly (5.1 setup) and the correct sound device is selected in game. The sound device is a Denon AV amp connected via HDMI, and with the windows test I can make the sounds come out of each speaker

I have front, centre, side and subwoofer, and can only detect sound coming from the fronts and subwoofer (connected directly to the Denon AV amp)

Any ideas?

I can only think of scrolling through the AMS2 sound devices while the menu music is playing and maybe one gets you surround.
