Car Mods with Duplicate Font Names

Hi everyone,

Quick question - a few car mods I've downloaded over time have had font names that are a duplicate of already existing ones, what is the best thing to do in this case, replace or duplicate them? Can't find any posts or info on this

The particular car I can remember is the RSR Formula 3. The font name was F312, and there is already a font called F312 for the 1975 Ferrari F312T.

I backed up the original file and used the duplicate function so the RSR F3 font is F312 (2) for now but I've noticed it on more cars and don't want to cause issues in the long run

Can't really do anything except overwrite, the car data says what filename to read so it's not gonna know you changed it.

Ah got you that answered my next question too, was hoping I could rename them to make it obvious but guess not with that being the case.

I'll overwrite and keep a backup in the case of the RSR F3, but I realized it might be more complicated when I noticed the GD '07 WRX looks like it uses the same font name as the Ford Transit Van - "dseg7bolditalicBig". Not sure what is best to do when it is a conflict between mods other than try both and see if anything is obviously broken?

And from what I understand the only thing the font affects is the tachometer?

Any digital dash items that are text can use them, could be tach, clock, water temp, various things. Most of the time if mods use the same name it should be the same font.

Gotcha appreciate the info on that, I'll take a quick look at those things on cars if I'm ever overwriting to make sure nothing is broken.

Yeah makes sense that they would likely be the same font if they use the same name, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I start getting more conflicts and lose track of original files etc.
