PC1 Community network events car setups - general question?

So I have a question regards Community network events.. Can we actually make setups for cars for these events? As when you enter an event it drops you straight on the track without option to edit any setup, but I thought if we edit setups in the game menu, does that mean we run that setup in community event? Or are we all running a standard setup? Which would sound fair
Question arose to me, when in the first Round in FA, I was in top20, but trying to do MONZA yesterday in BMW M1 Procar, I'm down in 300.. I only had 3 flying laps, but still makes me wonder if some people are running proper car setups, which would explain much better lap times.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

If you have previously saved a setup for that car and track, time trial and the events will default to using that setup except for forcing your fuel to stay at a constant 5 litres.
