Controller recommendation please

I know to get the best out of sim racing a wheel and pedals is the way to go however at the moment i am not in the position to be able to get a new one so for the time being i am going to have to make do with using a gamepad. I currently have an old xbox 360 controller but its seen better days so need to invest in a new gamepad asap. The main games i like play are Automobilista and Assetto Corsa but to me without a wheel Automobilista is too twitchy, even with sensitivity (as far as i can see) dialled right down so have just been messing around on Assetto Corsa. Is there any particular gamepad controller that works better with driving games/sims ? Reason i ask is have been looking at either getting another xb360 pad or the Logitech F310 looks pretty reasonable and have always had good experience with logitech stuff. Could anyone else who uses a controller possibly recommend one please (preferably on amazon as can get it tomorrow thanks to prime).
