General Converting skins?

Hi all I was wondering is it possible to convert skins from other games such as Richard Burns Rally or rFactor to Assetto Corsa? I have tried a few and It's worked but some do not line up correctly. Some it was just a case of renaming the .dds files and they appeared in-game on the car without issues.

I am asking because the rFactor mod called Rallyworld 4.0 has lots of good skins but some of them do not work that brilliant on the rally cars in Assetto Corsa.

If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

Converting skins does only work if the 3D model for the car is identical, to be more precise both model must have the same UV mapping. So should only work if a mod car is available for AC and a other sim. But keep in mind that some textures effects, like matte color, carbon effects, e.g., could be handled different between several games/simulations.
