DiRT Rally 2.0 Difference between buy a car or not?

Hi guys, got some questions about DR2.
Currently i'm going through RX Championship, and try some of the stages in rally career of the Event, and I didn't see the need to buy a car with CR, i can go through the event as well.

So should i buy a car or not? what will it brings if i buy a car

As far as I can tell, you can do the Rally and Rallycross career "seasons" with any car. For the daily/weekly/monthly Community events and Challenges, you need to own a car of the correct class.
