DirectX 10, 11 or 12 ?

In have a MSI GTX 980 4GB GAMING who supports DirectX 12 but my PC runs on DirectX 10 !

I have Win 7 Pro 64bit.

Is DirectX 12 backward compatible with older games who run on DirectX 9 ?

What should I do ?

I'm not 100% sure, but i think that older games can't run directx12. It should depends on the gpu and the game. You have the gpu that can run dx12 but only some new games use them atm.

Win7 only supports DX11 or lower. DX12 is Win10 only.
A DX12 card like yours will support any version lower than that.

After running dxdiag it says I have DirectX 11 so I guess I'm up to date !

Yep, that's the most current you will get on Win7. DX9 or DX10 will also work.

BTW, just noticed - cool to see girl racers here.

Games are written for a particular DirectX version. So RF1, RF2, LFS, SCE and AMS are DX9, AC, PCars and iRacing are DX11 and Forza Apex is DX12. You can run everything DX11 or lower now and if you installed Windows 10 you could run DX12 games as well.
