Codemasters have dropped a surprise new DiRT Rally 2.0 update today - bringing the popular rally title to version 1.6.
  • Final update.
  • Ford Fiesta R5 MKII Released.
  • Misc. game fixes.

Sad to say the development journey of the excellent DiRT Rally 2.0 is coming to an end with this new update, as Codemasters divert their full attention to the more arcade focussed DiRT 5 release. That said, new content is always a welcome addition to any game, and the solid foundations laid down by the studio for this very enjoyable rally title should provide plenty more entertainment for gamers in the months ahead.

Version 1.6 Update Notes:

Content:

  • New car: Ford Fiesta R5 MKII
Note:
Car is available to all players in modes outside of My Team.

To unlock the car for use in My Team, take part in a DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Qualifier and you'll get it when the Event Week ends.

Cars:
  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated engine audio based on new recordings of real-world car.
  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Ford Escort MK2 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
World Rallycross Championship
  • Removed AI driver names which were mistakenly appearing when using 2019-spec cars.
Colin McRae Scenarios:
  • Resolved issue where Used tyres were displaying as New in Service Areas.
Miscellaneous:
  • Added ability to select Paraguay as a driver nationality.
  • Made various minor (not notable) bugfixes across the game.

This is currently the final update planned for DiRT Rally 2.0.

The Ford Fiesta R5 MKII will be unlocked for all players to purchase in My Team Garage menu in early 2021, however this does not require a game update.

DiRT Rally 2.0 is available now for both console and PC.

Got questions about the title? No worries, head over to the DiRT Rally 2.0 sub forum here at RaceDepartment and start up a thread - let our awesome community help you out!

At least there won't be any surprises when there are no more updates.

This is a change from the promises of Assetto Corsa Competizione and from the censorship (in forums) and of certain contents announced and never released to the public (mainly on graphics).

In short, to believe that to make a simulation and to be gifted in communication is a complicated thing nowadays, maybe Reiza? maybe not, it's a subjective point of view and specific to each one.

In any case, I'm looking forward to a new Dirt 3.0.

why is Dirt Rally 2.0 final version 1.6 not 2.0? lol
btw i had idea some time ago and i think i share tis idea here. i not so into rally, mostly racing, so i dont even know how rally in real life looks do they have fixed tracks that tey come each year? or they make new tracks each year? i think tey make new track each year? if so why developers not make procedurally generated track? yo have straights, different turns, different surfaces, landscapes etc and all tracks are generated random. then i think i would get myself such rally game cause then it would really show whos fastest not that people spend 1000 hours at one same track, we would have online so on my pc track is generated and i upload it and we do quick race at random generated track now we see who driver fastest blind, as tey drive almost blind in rally

Some of Codie's finest work, and well deserving of it's accolades. Still absolutely love it.

Scotland stages are fantastic.

A real testament to a dedicated developer, even with their DLC along the way. I've bought it all. If you haven't, I recommend you get the GOTY - it's bound to be cheap on steam by now....
Is Scotland part of the main game? I bought DR2 when it came out and then never touched it again. Might have a go now.

they do come back to the same stages from last year most of the time, sometimes there are some older ones or completely new ones thrown in.
there has already been a procedural approach with dirt04 but that never really worked out. compared to the brilliant stages in dirt rally 1.0 and 2.0, the stages in dirt 04 looked - procedural, repetitive. it was technically ok and never crashed while loading but did not really convince most players. it's dirt cheap (pun intended) on steam, try it out. you can generate a new track, upload it and race it against any number of friends if i am not mistaken. only did that once or twice and remember it worked fine.
"... as they drive almost blind in rally ..." nope, unless there is fog. stages are recced (reconnoitered) in the days before at average traffic speed, that's when co-drivers check their notes from last year against this year or write new notes and the team sends terrain scouts across the tracks just before the rally starts to see if there are any new hazards like ice or more puddles etc.

So in other words...they'll never fix VR to be nothing more than a slideshow.
Good to know, thanks.

I've run Dirt Rally at 120 fps and can play it with all settings MAXED at 90 fps, so it's quite a bit better than a slide show.

ACC is a much harder load for VR. Lucky to run that at 90fps. Many only run it at 80 fps.

Would have been the best rally sim ever if they hadn't made a complete mess of triple screen implementation.
Still think it was excellent though. Just a missed opportunity. If your going to do it why not do it right??

I do have one negative, every time I switch menus it stops to "communicate with server" for a few seconds.

Why does the game need to report to codies every time I click on something? This isn't making my experience better so its clearly not for the users benefit or enjoyment.

Nice that there is one more final update. I dont play this game that much. Not really interested in Rally games but
got the game for the VR aspects. Dirt 5 is not on STEAM so wont be getting that game in the future
It is on Steam but no VR, at least as of now. But it's full arcade, Codies like MS Forza Motorsport/Horizon have two flavors now.
