Downloading in 7z instead of zip

Hi everyone,
I'm new to sim racing and kind of a noob. When I am downloading mods for assetto corsa, the downloads are in 7z file type. It is making downloads take hours. How do I change downloads to zip files so the downloads are faster? Thanks!

The downloads are independent of the file type. The servers are overloaded during evening times in Europe (right now and the last 4 hours basically).

7z ist just a similar compressed file type be can be extracted via 7-zip, a free little program that should be on every PC (doesn't need to be installed either, there's a "portable" version that just runs when you start it).

You can't change the filetype of the download. The uploader compressed his upload via 7-zip into a 7z file. You can only download what was uploaded, not a different file type.

.7z archives are smaller than .zips so they download faster.

Strictly speaking, 7z is more efficient than zip, meaning you get smaller files, so you are better off downloading those.
