Codemasters have revealed the final cars due to form the new 'Classic Content' in F1 2017 - Welcome McLaren...

Joining the 4 Ferraris, 2 Williams a Red Bull and a Renault come 4 iconic McLaren cars from the history of the team. Responsible for World Championships in the hands of drivers like Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton, the McLaren cars are sure to be a fairly major draw to the classics portion of the title.

So, which cars from the Woking team are included I hear you say? Well, let's take a look shall we?

1988 McLaren MP4/4

As driven by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna during the 1988 Formula 1™ season. The Honda-powered MP4/4 is one of the most iconic and dominant Formula One cars ever built, winning all but one race (15 out of 16) and claiming all but one pole position in the 1988 season. It was the car that powered Senna to his first world championship title.

1991 McLaren MP4/6

During the 1991 season, this was driven by the then reigning World Champion Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger, and was considered by some to be the most competitive car ever at the time, taking eight wins and ten pole positions, and scored 148 points, with Senna winning his third and final world championship title.

1998 McLaren MP4-13

In the 1998 F1™ season the MP4-13 was driven by Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard and again proved to be the dominant car of the season, with Häkkinen winning his first Drivers’ Championship, and McLaren’s securing their first constructor’s title since 1991.

2008 McLaren MP4-23

The MP4-23 was driven by Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen in the 2008 season, and is notable for being the car in which Hamilton won his first World Drivers’ Championship in dramatic fashion at the Brazilian Grand Prix by overtaking Toyota’s Timo Glock on the final corner of the final lap of the final grand prix of the season, to claim the required 5th-place finish and win the Drivers’ title by a single point from Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, and become at the time the youngest driver ever to win the title.

I was only 1 year when the 412T2 was unleashed. But years later on I found a videotape in my house, the 1995 European GP, and I saw that thing. It was the angriest machine I've ever seen. No other car could match that. Think I'll be racing that thing more than the actual 2017 cars.

voted for the 1995 Ferrari as well.

shame they didn't add the Benetton or the McLaren from 1995, would rather see those cars than half of the "classic" cars being from the past decade.

Lewis' 2008 car... I loved the wacky 2008 aero stuff and the chrome paint job also lends itself to my liking too.
Not to mention as an 11 year old i was uncontrollably happy when he passed Glock and took the championship.

FW14B is the car for me. Except...I have hauled this thing around for many a lap in F1 2013, and I could really not find any active suspension. Are they modelling this stuff?

Maybe the 88 or 92 cars are "Classics", or the 96 Williams...but the rest? Nope. Nopey Nopey Nope.
But this was a series that thought it OK not to have H pattern shifting for the 70s and 80s cars in the last iteration of Classic F1 Content. Most of those noughts cars are just horrible, and calling them classic is just offensive.

Apparently, I have vote for one of two least popular.
Williams from '96. Why ? Cause my man JV drove it.
I would prefer '97 car though but eh... they didn't ask.
This will do too.
And I will say it again... it would be much better, imo, if they produce one complete F1 year, instead of this... cars scattered all over. Much better for actual racing, not only hot lapping. Assetto Corsa style. :D

Boring choices. The MP4/4 (which will be exceptionally boring if CM don't model the H-shifter, a critical aspect of the car) is obsoleted by the MP4/6 and will not have anyone to race against, exactly like the 312/T2 from 2013. Their refusal to use more than one car from any given year is also both boring and bad for balancing, and the ability to give everyone the same car in a lobby won't fix that as spec racing is boring beyond belief in a series that is partly known for its variety in the way the cars handle, especially as of 2016. But noooo, they needed to cater to all the daddies who fall prey to any sign of nostalgia baiting.

At the very least, they should've focused more on using multiple cars from the same year, such as the 2003 Williams-McLaren-Ferrari trio, the 2012 McLaren-Ferrari-Red Bull-Lotus set (the RB6 being the only 2009+ car in the game is a crime given the close 2010 and 2012 championships), the 2000 and 2008 McLaren-Ferrari duos or the 1995 Williams-Benetton-Ferrari trio. In fact, if you remove either the 2000 or the 2008 duo, you end up with 12 cars again, which fits their original number, though I don't get why that number has to be so low in the first place.

EDIT: Turns out the MP4/4 will have shifter support, making it way more relevant. Nice touch.

It's been confirmed that it has h-shifter support.

Fair play to CM, that's pretty good. I'd be very surprised if their first serious attempt at getting it right in a CM F1 game was all that good, but just the fact that they're adding it in is a nice touch as it makes the car much more relevant.
