wizzard No Mate. It won't effect performance of cars.
The tier performance will not be altered unless you changed the tiers.
Also once you change the DB you are not able to play online. So a Backup of Original will help you

You can see it in the f1 teams table. there was Column named id itself. Swap the Numbers of the Default teams with the teams you want.

No at present only 6 teams are available. CM locked it with id's.

When you say complete do you mean get gold on the last test? I've completed all the tests but only got silver on that test.

Yep, all of them have to be gold.

Hi Demy,

Well...as you offered: Could you make a version of the database where Ferrari are unlocked without having to get gold in all of the young driver challenges? Maybe put Mercedes or someone in that slot instead (as I never drive for them). I just don't want to have to spend hours chasing 'golds' on the YD tests to drive the Ferrari (yeah, I suck that badly at this game). Thanks.

Sorry to bump this but uv316, you need to finish the Young Driver Test as far as I know before you attempt to unlock Ferrari as your team in Career Mode.
