Failing to apply colour on .dds

Hi guys, im finishing an import, lefting to the end the easiest stuff like skins^^
But i was wrong, 2 days still not figuring why on Gimp i fail to change/add colour.
No matter what i choose it only highlight or darken the body.dds :/

- Open the body.png you've attached
- Create a new layer
- Move it below the layer which was already within the PNG
- Select the original layer and change its properties to "Multiplay"
- Start painting within the layer you've created in the second step
