Fanatec Wheel with "Controller-functions"

Hi, is it possible to assign buttons in Automobilista 2 with the functions "open menu", and control pad up and down and input? The background is that it is very practical to stop or restart a race with the wheel in VR mode without taking off the headset. The Logitech G923 had this as a standard feature.
 
You can definitely bring up the game menu (options > controls > edit assignments > game > pause), but not sure about assigning buttons for up/down as I use a trackball (I'm also in VR). I'll check when I am next on as the ICM up/down might work and I already have those assigned to the funky switch.
 
Tried the ICM buttons. No joy for me.

There is a workaround, but it's a bit of a faff. Using a AHK macro you can map the buttons to the cursor keys. I already do this for PTT in discord as it cannot distinguish between buttons on different joysticks
 
You can use keyboard emulation or controller mapper in SimHub to bind the buttons on your wheel to this function. Eg. bind the buttons on the wheel to keyboard ESC and arrow up/down

Although, most Fanatec wheels have a little joystick that works in this way and should be preconfigured for AMS2. My Formula wheel and the Porsche 918 wheel have this and it works out of the box. What wheel do you have?
