Finally took the plunge.

Hi there! I just purchased this game from steam. I had too delete my beloved Race07 to make room
on the hard drive for this...

Ran a few laps off-line trying to get used to the interface, and what not.
I must say, I like it! My Fanatec CSR worked perfectly without any tweaking.

The cars feel amazing. The sounds are brilliant. Right out of the box...love it!

I jumped on the RD server for a few laps, crashed a few times, but had fun getting used to the
physics.

I do have a question. I like running time trials. Just me against me...Can I run "hot laps" against my own ghost?

Anyway...just saying Hi...great game!

I set my wheel according to the pinned post, works great!

As far as the config file settings, I don't think I found those...of course, I am a idiot! Probably scrolled right past it.

Loving this sim. Runs great on my older computer. Smooth!

yep gsc just has that "right" driving feel that not many other can replicate as well. Its when youve done 30-40 laps of a track look up and remember your at your pC playing a game. lol

former race07 lover myself, but this is its perfect successor imo.

I am quite the newb for PC gaming. I certainly do enjoy the learning curve, and seeing the changes a little at a time.

But, I also am afraid of screwing everything up...race07 was my first foray into the pc world. I have plenty of notes, saved pages of information...mostly from you good people here on RD.

So..thank you for your patience. It is appreciated!

Jumped on the RD public server for an hour or so..
What a blast!

Fun! Of course, I came in last. A lap or two behind...the learning curve includes learning the racetracks!

So much fun. Really had a good time! Thanks guys.

There's no screwing up mate.
As long as you have fun and stay respectful towards other racers, you're doing it absolutely right :)
Simracing is like pretty much everything in life.

At first you seem to drown in information, you collect every bit of data you can gather,
then you realize you don't need all that but focus on the basics :)
You can of course spend tens of hours in the setup screen, but that time is better
invested in learning the tracks and the characteristics of the cars.
Setups come later - especially because the default ones aren't that bad at all.

I had to turn number lock on, for the keypad..then it toggled the map..
Oh! This might very much be the solution, as i never use Numlock *g*
Will try it out next time :)

Thank you, Mat.

Now I know. I hope to see you and others on the racetrack.
I try to let the fast guys by, without getting in their way..soon enough I'll be one of the fast guys too!
This :) Stay out of trouble and enjoy your time.
That's how i do it and eventually we'll be good enough one day to race against others instead of just fighting the car and the track all the time :D
