Enjoyable nights'racing that was! And from reading the other race reports I deffo gotta check those replays as apparantly I missed quite a bit of hilarious action.
First of all, welcome back Warren! Good to hear from you again!
I didn't have really fond memories of the RS2000 from my last attempt @ Burubi, and the main thing I remembered from Riverside is that last time around in the Boss302 I prematurely ended Tim's race.
So, plenty of room for improvements there...
Quickly more or less randomly picked a RS2000 setup from the RD site, and entered TS just in time to hear Eck and Stu mention Ecks unusual but very clever gearing layout. Combining both turned out to work great!
After a few troublesome practise laps I slowly got the hang of the Escort. Come Q1, at the top there was Stu and Eck, then a BIG
BIG gap, and then me in 3rd! Happy!
Despite the very long 1st gear I had a good R1 start, got off the line no problem only looking ahead, so I had no clue of most of the mayhem happening behind me.
Clearly Thommo's pace was too much for me, but running crash-free laps while some others couldn't got me a solid 2nd place.
P2 and Q2 didn't go that well, broke rules 1, 2 and 3 on my outlap.
Started R2 from behind, but was lucky again to not get involved in any start- / 1st lap accident. Passed Jacob in L1 to end up in 2nd place again. This time with Eck chasing me, passing me
, spinning
, chasing me again
, going off again which granted me enough margin to keep my 2nd place until finish..
So, I had two rater lonely races, but I made friends with the Escort, and results were very good! But seriously, my two 2nd places are more a true reflection of the amount of bad luck some others had than anything else; still I quite enjoyed it..
Thanks! to Thommo for the event, Grats to him as well for the double win! Thx all, cya next time.
