The latest performance open wheel car has been announced for RaceRoom Racing Experience - introducing the Formula RaceRoom X17...!

Based loosely on the looks of a modern 2017 specification Formula One car, what makes this new FRX17 car special is the decision by Sector3 Studios to retain a big, noisy, powerful V10 3.0 litre engine in the back of the car rather than the dreadful Hybrid Power Unit's currently doing the rounds in modern day Grand Prix racing.

The Formula RaceRoom X17 will become the most powerful and downforce efficient car within RaceRoom once it releases later in the year, overtaking the IndyCar style Formula US Dallara released back in February.

With this new car, Sector3 have gone a long way towards completing their open wheel career ladder within the game, having now covered off each step on the way to becoming a top tier Grand Prix driver. From Formula Ford style cars right the way up to Formula 2, IndyCar and Formula One style machinery, RaceRoom now have each rung of the ladder well represented within the title. Considering the very first downforce orientated single seater in the form of the Formula RaceRoom 2 only released back in December 2015, the rate of updating and releasing of new content from Sector3 has been rather impressive.

Now that the new FRX17 has been revealed, and the majority of the major open wheel racing world covered, it remains to be seen if Sector3 will look to develop further open wheel content or return their attentions to the more traditional field of touring and GT specification racing machinery.

The Formula X17 will benefit from the following performance features:
  • 3.0 liter V10
  • 950hp @ 19000 rpm
  • 370Nm @ 17000 rpm
  • 7 speed paddle shift
  • 620 kg including driver
  • 44/56% Weight distribution, including driver, excluding fuel
  • 150 liter fuel tank
  • Maximum theoretical downforce is aprox 2800 kg @ 322 km/h.
  • Traction Control available
  • DRS System
No release date has been confirmed by the Swedish studio, however with the car looking to be in a release ready state and having been teased already several months ago, it is not beyond ones imagination to assume the newest performance formula car could be released as early as the next major build update for the game, either towards the end of May or early June at the latest.

RaceRoom Racing Experience is a free to play simulation exclusive to PC with additional content available to purchase via the in game RaceRoom Store.

dreadful? i'm sorry for starting this discussion all over again but if you really think that the PUs are dreadful, look at the facts again: the V10 (eg in raceroom) have about 950 bhp but could use a (almost) unlimeted number of engines with a efficiency of about 10%, now we have the PUs with something between 900 and 1000 bhp but the teams can only use four engines per season and they have a efficiency of 40-50% and use only 100kg ( a little bit more then 100 litres) of fuel during a race
i don't want to offend you but just wanted to say this :D
 
This is an exciting development for R3E combining features from multiple eras, looking forward to adding this to the stable.
 
The FR2 is already my favorite-driving open wheel car (despite the lack of tire compounds or pressure adjustments). But this beast should be like an FR2 with 'roid rage.

Can't wait to experience the noise on my 7.1 and play around with plenty of power oversteer on corner exit.
 
By far, this is the most under rated racing sim out there. I just wish they would offer true multiple monitor support ASAP. Perhaps, an upgrade to DirectX 12 (for better FPS and SMP) is needed....

They was talking shifting the graphics engine to Unreal 4 engine, which would certainly be a upgrade, although tbh S3 have done a tremendous job on their custom graphics engine, considering its only dx9.

The current graphics engine looks spectacular for what it is ;-)
What I would rather see is multi monitor support with perspective correction comparable to what we have in Assetto Corsa. This to me is the one single issue I have with R3E which has matured wonderfully in every other respect.

I wish though we would get replicas of real race cars rather then these fantasy creations although the recipe sounds very, very tasty indeed.

I am happy that there will be many people out there who will love these.

Just need to give the AI some steroids because right now it's a bit struggling with such a fast car.

So we'll release it when it's good enough, which I would call "fairly soon".​

It apparently just have to get minor tweaks. Although the Sector 3 "fairly soon" can always takes just that bit longer than we hope for.;)

I never even looked , I look at most sims always do ,
But the graphics are that nice in raceroom I always presumed they was DX11 lol ,
No way ........... :D
 
We was looking at this video last week , We was saying the rear of the car looks strange compared to the front , the proportions , Do not think its a full 2017 Spec car :)

It's definitely not 2017 specs, wheelbase and chassis are shorter, which is nicer than the current F1 (I wonder when they'll stop to stretch them :p). As for the engine, I think many people really don't care if the new V6 are more powerful than the 2000's V10, as long as they sound ugly, hence the V10 in the FRX-17 ;)
