I never really thought about this but it makes sense, that the mirror is "telling" her that someone else would be prettier, although she's prettier on the outside but not on the inside.

I believe she asks who is the "fairest", which isn't necessarily the prettiest. I also believe men aren't always attracted to the most beautiful woman anyway, especially the men who are worth it.

In German it's definitely "beautiful". Not fair/nice/awesome/pretty/cute/whatever. Ofc that includes the personality somehow, like "A beautiful mind", but it's clearly superficial in that case.

I'm not sure if it's a German original?
