Gear ratios setup

Hi,

Ive dl the RD setup guide. In there i found something rather interesting about the gear ratios.
It says that most drivers set their 1st gear for the slowest corner. Does that mean the 1st gear will replace the second? The 2nd - 5th gear are evenly spaced out between the 1st and 6th gear. Ive tried that and made some test starts. I just cant get away...
Even more important, i havent noticed any difference in lap times (except for the slower start).

I seldom use first gear for the slowest corner
most of the time i use second for that as well
but I might be totally wrong here

I'm the same as Tim, I never use 1st gear on the track. Usually I'll have first set as short as possible in the touring cars and set to give me the best start in everything else. Use 2nd in the tight corners.

Driving a FWD car I always use 1st gear in the slowest corner of the track. With a RWD I go for second as I have a hard time controlling the tail of the cars in first gear with high revs
