GP Sochi 2020 at risk?

Gossip alert (!!):

Yep it are still rumours but over time we will know if they are and remain fake news or simply the thruth?

Now that WADA forbids Russia to participate and organize big sport events for the next five years does that have any impact on the GP in Sochi 2020?

THere were already other rumours that 2020 would be the last year for a F1 Grand Prix in Sochi and maybe St Petersburg would be its successor. This because of other plans with the Sochi festival area and shortening the track (too short for a F1 GP).

Now with this WADA announcement interesting to follow if the F1 GP will be organized in Russia?

There should be no direct impact.

I would estimate that Russia would pay even more to have a F1 race in their country under the new climate for other sports.

Street circuits produce bad races. They cause accidents and long pace car sessions. Though being in the city there is accommodation and restaurants inside infrastructure so less to haul to the track. Permanent tracks are in areas in the country in the middle of fields. Hense you have to mouve more equipment. Hospitality, Food, Stands (The assemble and de assemble variety not permanent)
In the next 20 years we will see less permanent tracks and more street circuits better for economy and more money available. Basically it will turn into a Demolition derby series where the challenge is to bring the car home and avoid damage or accidents. Basically NASCAR with a open wheel chassis and right turns.
