New update, new layouts and new cars for Gran Turismo Sport... the February Update is here!

The new 1.13 build update for Sony PlayStation 4 leading title Gran Turismo Sport has been released! Alongside the usual list of fixes and improvements, development team Polyphony Digital have released a wave of new content to this interesting racing game - finally adding so much needed variety to the track offering in the current version of the title.

Added to GT Sport as part of the new update comes 12 new vehicles, presenting a nice mix of old and new machines from the world of road and race, highlights of which will undoubtedly be the 1971 issue De Tomaso Pantera for those who like their supercars classic, or the Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man Time Attack Car for players looking for a more contemporary driving experience.

As well as the headline grabbing new car releases, the latest build also adds some much needed variety on the circuit front in the form of four new layouts to the fantasy 'Blue Moon Speedway' location, mixing things up a little for those getting a little too familiar with the current circuit offering in GT Sport at present.

The new update is available to download now on PS4.

Appreciate the crackdown on idiots online, though for a game that takes its esports appeal so seriously, they should be pushing even harder to eradicate the griefers. Meanwhile, the lack of tracks has always been what makes me stop playing and I'd hardly call a couple infield courses at one location (and not even very good ones at that) "much needed track variety".

You know your track selection sucks when your Stars n Stripes series is 3 races long and still don't have enough American circuits, so you put Interlagos in there.

But Interlagos is an American circuit.

It may not be sim racing but the sport mode is so fun to play. Always tons of people playing GT sport.

I got hold of the f1 last night and it's was brilliant fun. It was fast but challenging and I could really throw it about but knowing if you do mess up its masses of time lost.

GT-Sport still does one thing better than others though and that's good pickup races. Every 30 minutes you can get into an 18-20 car race and as long as it's grp3 or 4 (90% it is) then it's a car/track combo people know and can race well. In short GT gets close to league level racing in pickup format and that's why I love it :)

I really wish people would stop all this judgement over racing sims. I haven't played gt sport but not calling it a sim og calling it that awful word "simcade" is wrong. I have seen all games but iracing been called "not a real sim", and in the iracing forum I got yelled at for calling it a game. It was a sport og a hobby. Not a game.

This discussion makes me sick. People need to show some respect, or we need some good definitions of what a racing sim is.

There is still one thing GT does better than any other racing game - teaching racing lines, technique and the handling differences between vehicle types. Sure it isn't perfect in terms of all aspects of handling but as a way of learning how to brake, corner and get the most from FWD, AWD, and RWD cars with differing engine positions it does a fine job. It isn't perfect but it's damn good and a lot of the more super serious sims could do with a decent rce school option. Those licence challenges are still fun after all these years and the track mastery with sections then the full lap challenge really help learn the key features of tracks. This and the career practice challenges in F1 2017 show that their is still a place for innovation in single player racing games.

I picked up GT Sport for the kids but surprised myself with how much I've also enjoyed it. It's good on both the wheel and the gamepad. The single player career mode is back and that provides a huge amount of content.

GT Sport really tries to promote clean and fair racing too with videos on racing etiquette and 100% extra in game credits for clean races. The AI are also reasonable to race against. On PS4 Pro it both looks and performs superbly. The general atmosphere of the game is still a bit odd with all those random cultural references but it doesn't get in the way of the game.

GT Sport is a long way ahead of Forza 7 in terms of handling and gameplay and it's been a long time since I could say that.
