Graphics settings in VR

With a RTX 2070, a i7770k @ 4.8 and a WMR Headset I have not been able to find a good VR graphics settings.
Yesterday I tried VRSS and found it to be slightly better.
I just added AMSAVX.EXE to the NVIDIA Inspector profile for Project cars 2 profile.
Had to go back to 441.xxx driver as the 445.xxx didn't expose the settings needed for getting VRSS working.
"0x00D5E9C6" set to 0x000001 & " 0x00D5E9C7 " set to 0x000002.

Using StreamVR 120% and MSAA High, VRSS and Sharpning 0.9.
The center view is nice sharp and clear with no flickering except the shadows.
Regardless what Shadow setting I use from low to ultra they flicker.
Would be interested to know if anybody got a fix for the shadows flickering?

I would keep shadows off for the moment. I love shadows in general cause they help immersion a lot but you will get a way better image without them at the moment.

With a Samsung Oddysey+ I have MSAA high, supersampling (using SteamVR, not in game) at 180, sharpening settings at 1.3, 1, 1.3 in the ini file, PP filters on, and most settings on medium/low (I can barely tell the difference between high and the other and don't really care as I prioritize sharpness, clarity and smoothness). I run all the sims at 60HZ with Windows Insider setting set to "Prioritize Performance" and AMS2 looks VERY sharp and clear, and very smooth even in Storm Weather. Give it a try! I am running a 1080ti and a Ryzen 2700x.

I have an very similar setup.
Here: i7700 non-K @ 32gb DDR4 3400mhz cl16 / RTX 2070 +110 overclock and Lenovo Explorer VR headset.

What are the DDR4 speed do you have? (Slow DDR4 speeds affect a lot the FPS)

I tried the VRSS too, but it works inverted for me, the center of image is blurred and the borders are sharpening... (DCS World community already reports the same issue) So, i turned it off.

I can run AMS2 with 90FPS in almost every track without problems.
When I drive in raining condictions it trigger the reprojection. (75-80-90fps variation without reprojection)

1. I turn off the Cortana over the VR Headset (It consumes a cpu resources)

2. SteamVR Supersampling 176% (per game settings 1912x1912px - the native resolution of Lenovo Explorer is 1440x1440)

4. Automobilista 2\graphicsconfigopenvrdx11.xml (Big improvement about sharpening image here)
<prop name="SharpeningStrength" sharpeningstrength="0.700000"/>
<prop name="SharpeningClamp" sharpeningclamp="0.050000"/>
<prop name="OffsetBias" offsetbias="1.000000"/>

6. Process Afinity
.
Using this method for Assetto Corsa you can notice an big improvement, so I'm repeating this for AMS2 too.

Try these settings friend..

Do not like 60 hz. Been trying it a few times but get uncomfortable and after a session my eyes hurts.
For me shadows are a must!
Sure it is EA but since it is the same in PC 2 I start to fear it will stay like that.
Kind of sucks as you can do in-game SS and get rock solid shadows.

My headset is a Lenovo so less pixels have settings car, track and shadows settings on Ultra running 90 Hz and happy with the display except the shadows
Also not on windows insider.

2. SteamVR Supersampling 176% (per game settings 1912x1912px - the native resolution of Lenovo Explorer is 1440x1440)

Strange as my SteamVR SS are 120% but 2148 x 2148 and same headset?

VRSS works correct for me. without the display is very blurred which I can fix with higher SS but then I have to reduce details settings.
Will try high priority settings got Process Lasso install anyway but only use it for older dx9 games.

Ram speed is 3200!

My Steam Vr is showing different values than your because I have changed the main value to 1440x1440 less than 100% (as shown on attached before) but is ok, the important is the final value as pixels,
Anyway, I'm running with a little lower supersampling than you..(1912x1912)

What Nvidia driver are you using?
I gonna try again the VRSS..

3200mhz is very fine! Mine original is 3200, but I overclocked to 3400... I didn't notice different at all..

Had to lower my settings as VRSS did not have the time to work on more demanding tracks.
So if you have a blurry mess with VRSS it is likely do to too the GPU do not have the time to run it and you will have to lower the settings or delete it and use SteamVR SS.
So back to fiddling with best settings for my setup
Will also test newer drivers the next few days.

You have the General SS set to 56% and the application set to 176%, so actually you are supersampling at 176-56=120. Set your general to 100% and application to 176% if you want 176

Its even worse than that isn't it? Its more like 56% * 176% = 98.56% (ie sub-sampling)? Mind you, I cannot see where he says the General SS is 56%

on a vive, i use 150% ss in steam, none in game, and rain or no rain same 90fps on high/ultra.. but. if i touch fog it dies in the ass.
without rain the screen grabs are smooth, with rain the do start loosing frames in the captured video, (in game remains at 90fps though)
Interestingly, the rain falls INSIDE the car at your feet.

i9 9900kf, 32gb @3200, 2080ti (fps and cpu/gpu/ram top left)
NO RAIN
RAIN

(on my sons 3900x, 32gb @3200, 2080s, I have to run on med-high otherwise it does start skipping)

Not tried vrss yet, ill give it a go. Just enable it in the NV control panel?

I'd be interested to know what your performance is like at Kansai with the P1. This is a framerate killer combo for me. I start to get stuttering with just 1 car on track (me) with this combo in clear weather.
