GTX 1060 3gb on 34inch ultra wide ?

Hi guys,

Looking to get a 1440p 34 inch ultra wide, something like the Samsung G5 or the Acer Nitro XV34 - Question is, will my GTX 1060 3GB be able to run it with 60 fps+ ? What kind of monitor you guys recommend in case this computing power is not enough ? Would be for a single monitor rig

Thanks very much

Vitor

Thanks a lot guys , I guess the tricky bit is finding a 1080p 144hz 32 inch ? Can't find anything that fits all those three boxes , seems that above 27 everything is already 1440p now ...

@Chabalo169 , what sim titles do you play?

I think it's easy to forget that most sim racing titles pre-date (Assetto Corsa, Rfactor 2, Raceroom, iRacing...) the release of the Nvidia Pascal cards, and a lot of people were/are running triple monitor set ups with these games/cards.

A basic 1080p triple monitor setup would be around 6.2-5 (bezel correction) megapixels. In contrast, a 3440 x 1440 monitor equals 4.9 megapixels & a 2560 x 1440 monitor 3.7 megapixels. Coupled with AMD's FSR & reasonable graphic settings, I think 1440p is doable.

If you go with a hardware compromise, a 1080p 32" monitor & above, & you sit too close to the monitor, the image might start to look pixelated.

Thank you very much. I play mostly iracing/F1/ACC and AC so I guess it should work if I tone down graphics a tiny bit - also in case it doesn't ,am I able to run a 1440p monitor at 1080p ? Will be under utilizing it but would cover me until I get a new graphics card after this madness

yes you can render at lower resolution, for example in ACC you can change resolution(it's possibile to set up the gpu/nis upscaling in nvidia control panel)/resolution scale(in game upscaling)/FSR(in game upscaling using the amd techinque) to get a good compromise between visual quality and performances (depending on your expectations and screen distance).
ACC, which is the most demanding of these games you listed, runs well on 1060 3Gb at 1080p.

For what it's worth...
I have a 1660 ti 6gb with a LG 34" ultra gear 2560 x 1080 ultrawide with HDR 144hz gsnync.
34GL750 so far I'm really enjoying it.

In iracing on high settings I get 110-130fps with a full grid.
AMS2 with a full field I get 90-120fps

So no it won't power a 4k monitor @ 1440p you will also run out of ram with only 3gb as I'm almost maxed with 6gb

Thanks a lot for the inputs guys, and given I'm using this monitor just for racing mostly ( will be on my cockpit ) is it better to buy something like the AOC 1080p suggested above or something like the Acer nitro 34inch XV340CK 1440p and run it at 1080p most of the time ( for now while I don't get a better card ) - assuming I can get both for roughly same price ?

i prefer a 3440x1440 144Hz, but i don't know how perform this AOC monitor.
i can say my XV340CK works well with G-sync compatible paired with my vga (i had an optix MAG341CQ 100Hz which was OK but flickers a lot using adaptive sync), but i'm not a monitor expert and i can't give you any other tips to make the best choice.
