The third challenge is Rally/Offroad! It's a bit longer this week, with a few more to identify!

As before, these are split into Easy/Medium/Hard categories. Some categories might have more than one game...

I'll reveal answers in two weeks (26th December; unless guessed sooner).

One clue:
  • Easy = readily available to buy still, or fairly well known in the past.
  • Medium = maybe not available to buy (apart from eBay); a bit less known.
  • Hard = good luck on guessing these!
Rally/Offroad Easy 1: not guessed by anyone! Island Racer - available on Steam now, this is a "nothing special" racing game, really.

Rally/Offroad Easy 2:
correctly guessed by @TTupsi - Pocket Rally - available for PC on the Windows Store, this is a port of the mobile game, which plays a bit like a simplified Sega Rally. Not sure whether they actually licensed any of the cars in the game though, or not!

Rally/Offroad Easy 3:
correctly guessed by @Ruy Horta - ZiL Truck RallyCross - available now on Steam, this swaps rallycross cars for old Russian trucks! Feels a bit arcadey though.

Rally/Offroad Medium 1:
correctly guessed by @Zuffenhausen Weiss - Extreme Rally Racer (known originally as WR Rally) - published by SelectSoft in the USA, this was a rebranding of Polish game WR Rally. It's a lightweight-handling arcade rally racer with cardboard boxes all over the tracks (strangely), cars that fall apart just by driving and a main menu where the rally cars have shiny rims and under-body lighting!

Rally/Offroad Medium 2:
not guessed by anyone! Inde Rally - super budget DOS rally game, with what looks like a Ferrari Testarossa in it!

Rally/Offroad Medium 3:
correctly guessed by @Zuffenhausen Weiss - PC Rally - one of two DOS rally games by Digital Dreams Multimedia, a Spanish games company. This one riffs off of the Gaelco-developed World Rally arcade racing games.

Rally/Offroad Medium 4:
correctly guessed by both @Tylda and @Filip Carlén (who gave the Polish original name) - Rajd Polski - Rally Poland - this is the official Rally Poland game from 2010. Luckily one of the cars has an English co-driver, and my wife is Polish, so we translated the game enough to play it! It won't trouble Richard Burns Rally in any way, although it's interesting to compare the Mikołajki special stage with the latest versions in the newest WRC games.

Rally/Offroad Medium 5:
correctly guessed by @Bigshox - Sprint Car Challenge - The Power & The Glory - one of a number of budget games from Brain In A Jar (who developed IndyCar Series, Golden Age Of Racing and Euro Rally Champion). Using the same engine, but focussing on arcade gameplay, this game features stock cars and rally cars.

Rally/Offroad Medium 6:
not guessed by anyone! World Wide Rally - a second DOS rally game by Digital Dreams Multimedia from Spain, this one being a traditional rally game. However the graphics are rather poor, especially the car modelling (that's meant to be an Impreza in the screenshot!). The menus are amusing though, as the voiceover has a Spanish twang, so says things like "Prrrrractice!" and "Jeep Willys" (which is one of the included vehicles in-game).

Rally/Offroad Medium 7:
correctly guessed (initially) by @Ruy Horta and (later) by @Pywackett-Barchetta - WRC Powerslide - short-lived on PC, this was an isometric arcade rally game (with power-ups) from Milestone, based on the 2012 season. All the other WRC games on PC are still widely available (WRC 4 onwards are on Steam), however this game is now stone dead, as it was only available digitally, and I think licensing issues killed it off.

Rally/Offroad Hard 1: correctly guessed by @Gevatter - Dakar 97 - dreadful Japanese arcade racing title (PlayStation port) with insanely low draw depth.

Rally/Offroad Hard 2: correctly guessed by @Gevatter - XT Rally - this was available via the TryMedia/TryGames/ActiveMARK system, but as the DRM system is now dead, you can't play it for longer than 60 minutes (although, with just 3 tracks and a similar number of cars, it won't hold your attention long). When I took the screenshots I didn't edit them, and failed to notice the tacho stating the name of the game!
