GUIDE: TrackIR for Automobilista 2

In order for Automobilista 2 to work with TrackIR, it must be started in VR mode. To do this, create a desktop shortcut using Steam. Then right-click on "Properties" in the menu and replace the existing link with this:

steam://launch/1066890/vr

"Shared Memory" should also be activated in Automobilista 2.

Then TrackIR works in the helmet view after Automobilista 2 was started with the edited icon.

In addition, I prefer the following ingame settings under "Option -> Camera -> Configuration":

Show Helmet = NO
Helmet look to apex = 0

Have Fun!

Is it still the only way to make it work, 9 months later?
For users that have VR headset it's not a solution as it does start SteamVR and game launches in VR mode.

May be a proper support for TrackIR from devs for a change, so everyone even users that have VR in their systems can use it, and the rest don't need that hacky workaround.
Hope that's not asking for too much.

Hello my friend.

Did this step by step, worked in AMS1 but not in AMS2.

The Virtual Reality option is still grayed

I selected PC1 setting for Shared Memory. Also selected PC2 and not seems to work.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hey, have you tried to put the command

-forceVR

into the games properties in your steam library?

(right click on Automobilista 2 in the library, open the properties and in the general tab that opens right there, insert it to the launch options field.)

This should force the game to launch in SteamVR mode and TrackIR will be recognized automatically.

Using pCars2 shared memory is working fine.

Thanks a million
Could you please give more details about ?
I'd really like to use my TrackIR in cockpit view, in helmet view
What exactly do I need to do, to have the same cockpit view ?

-Deactivate the displayed helmet in the camera settings.

-Set your FOV to the same you use for cockpit in the camera settings

-All settings for G-Forces and head movement apply the same for Cockpit and helmet anyway. (I recommend checking, that look to apex is completely off btw.)

-Choose helmet view in the car (map your switch camera button in the controls), it's the camera that comes after the passenger cam (two button presses from the cockpit cam).

-Drive with TIR
