Help, I've developed a transmission-ruining habit.

All was fine till a few weeks ago, but I seem to have developed a real habit for damaging transmissions on manual H-pattern cars while downshifting. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. (AC, CM, CSP, SOL, T-LCM pedals). What exactly determines when the transmission gets damages (and when the engine does, though that's not my problem)?

Thanks.

Usually, when the clutch is not yet completely disengaged (pedal not yet fully depressed), but you've already changed into the next gear, it'll give you the grinding noise, and subsequently gearbox damage

At first you may want to check in your drivers, if the clutch registers 100% at full travel at all. Maybe that's the culprit.

Then, it could also be, that the car you are driving now, requires more or more aggressive throttle application during down shifting for rev matching. If revs are matched closely, it's easier to get away with sloppy clutch work.

Personally, I've helped it, by adjusting the travel range of the clutch pedal in ACs settings in such way, that when the pedal is physically depressed 95%, it already registers 100% signal.
