How can I bend the shaft of my shifter?

I have the HE shifter and I'd like to bend a little the short shaft? Any idea how to do it without breaking it, deforming it or damaging the threads?

All matter is held together by bonds at the molecular level. All you have to do is apply more force than the bond and it will bend or break depending on the bond type.

You should really use heat, protect thread then place in the vice.
Apply heat till cherry red then bend, use piece of tube over the other thread.
