How do i edit the .tdf?

New to building tracks and i can open the file in notepad but can't save the changes as a .tdf is there a program to use that i can save as a.tdf? I'm using Windows 8.

What happens when you click on save? Is there a permission problem or something else?

if it a permission denial , copy it to desktop and re save there.the copy it back to game's location folder.

In the Notepad it trys to save it as a txt file and won't let me rename or save any other way

When you do File, Save As... change the dropdown to *.* (all files) instead of *.txt. If that still doesn't work, then rename it from Windows after you save it as .txt.

Also worthwhile to associate *.tdf with Notepad.
