F1 2010 How do you turn the ghost car off?

If I'm running just behind the ghost car I often can't see my braking point. Unless I'm quicker than it, I find it more a hinderance than a help. Is there anyway to turn them off completely?

im pretty sure its in your motorhome, the p-q or race screen , scroll down and on the difficulty options press x then it takes you to an options menu.

ive seen it. man this is anoying ,what about outside in the padock in the my f1 menu.
im a bit stuck to trully help you cause ive got the dreaded corrupt file meassage and cant turn on my game till hopefully there is an update.

yeah im almost sure that its in the my F1 menu but i could be mistaken im not one hundred percent sure

Unfortunatelly you can't disable the ghostcar. You can only disable automatic saving of the best time as a ghostcar. But that's all.

Does this turn off ghost cars?

Yeah, it's been reported that this makes ghost cars and racing line invisible. It however is just a side-effect, as far as I know. You might want to edit the cars\ghost_settings.xml file instead. It contains parameters like clip_distance and clip_rate for the ghosts...if you play around with the values, you might get lucky.

I've tried changing the ghost_settings.xml but it doesn't seem to do anything. The obvious first attempt was to set clipping from 0.95 to 1.00, in hope that it would make it 100 % transparent. I've tried 0.99 and I've tried changing the distances to no avail. Next attempt is Kocinski's advice.
