How to attach 6-point harness

Hi,
Getting ready to order a harness to go with a Gseat and Gbelt. I need to decide whether to select a 5 point or 6 point harness. Most people seem to think that 6 point is more comfortable.

1) is a 6 point as good at providing counter tension to the Gbelt?

2) how do the 5th and 6th belts attach to the rig? Can you share pics?

Thanks!

I think a 6pt would be more comfortable and provide the same tensioning effect. Having said that I think there is less pressure "down there" on a Sim rig than in a car so a five point might not be as irritating as in real life.

Harnesses time out so track drivers have to replace their belts every so often. If you have a race shop near you they might have belts they are just throwing away.

Here is one way to attach them to a P1-X or similar profile based rig.

I am using eye-bolts as a replacement for the front M8 bolts holding the bucket sidemounts for the submarine belts.

You could use two more of those bolted to the outer sides of the sidemounts for the hip belts. I am not using those on my 6-point harness, as i think they add a lot of hassle but no benefit to the belt feeling or immersion. So technically i am down to a 4-point i guess :)

Thanks. How do you route 5 and 6? Is that the side of the rig?

In the first picture above, you are looking at the front of the seat. The 2 submarine belts are routed down through the hole in the seat and then underneath the seat left and right to those eye-bolts at the front of the sidemounts.

IMO, more than 4 point harness is overkill
  • lab belt should be tight enough to keep lumbar against seat back for best tactile effects
  • 2-inch shoulder harness tensioning feedback is adequate without hiking up tightened lap belt

I noticed my belt hiking up quite a bit with the seat belt tensioning even with the belts tight to start.

The anchor made a big difference to how much I can feel the G-Belt. It was just "OK" without an anchor. With the anchor I felt a lot more detail and I'm not the only one who noticed that difference.

When I first tried it with 4 points I thought it felt pretty good, but it wasn't until I put an anchor on it that I really felt what it could do.

5 points worked in terms of providing that anchor to make the G-Belt work well, but 6 points is much easier to live with in terms of comfort at least for me.

Here I'm using 6-point. It's not as annoying to use as I first thought. The first installation is a nightmare, because it's not very intuitive to know how to control the length of the straps, but once you have all it all ready, the rest is quick and easy: just sit in the bucket, connect the different parts and, adjust the tension of the shoulder straps if necessary and you are ready to go.
