F1 2017 How to invite friends on custom multiplayer

everytime I set up an invite only, no one can see me game listed? So I have to do an open session then boot people? How do I add friends on invite only

Anyone help please

Solved this, my "steam friends" weren't popping up, du to setting in the steam friends preferences, so every time I pushed invite , nothing happens, now it does

the invite only session means that you as a host must invite! otherwhise youre frieds cant join the session..

Thanks Phillip, understand that, what was happening was the F1 key , to invite friends, was doing nothing, or so I thought, actually what was happening is the steam friends window was hidden, so I couldn't invite! All worked out now
