How to protect my Fanatec Clubsport V3

I have been racing on my Clubsport V3 pedals for about 2 months now, and they have remained in good condition while racing with socks. However, yesterday I received some racing shoes (actually indoor soccer shoes), and they seem to work great. The issue is, after ~3 hours of racing the finish on the V3 where the heals rest is showing wear. I was hoping it was just the rubber from the shoes that had come off, but that does not appear to be the case. Any ideas on how I can protect the finish of the V3 heal plate. They look cool, and would love to keep them looking nice. Also, has anyone with racing shoes had this issue with their V3 pedals.
