Welcome to the central discussion thread for the 103rd running of the legendary Indy 500.

Indianapolis plays host to the 'greatest spectacle in racing' for the 103rd time today, and the 33 car field are set fair to put on another fantastic motorsport event - the first and most prestigious oval race of the 2019 IndyCar season.

Despite the notable absence of former World Champion Fernando Alonso and new Red Bull Junior Patricio O'Ward from the starting grid, the great race should once again be a fantastic sporting affair, something that is almost guaranteed when IndyCar return to the famous speedway.

Sit back and enjoy the 103rd running of the Indy 500, and feel free to use the comments section below to discuss the big race.

Was a great finish. Simon earned that, did really well all day. Rossi came close. No doubt he will win again in the future. Gotta give a shout out to Takuma. From a lap down to 3rd place, a great drive, he seems to have found another gear the past few years.

What a fantastic race.A unique event.
The speed & sense of danger does makes this race special. The start still makes me nervous & I have watched racing for 40+ years.
It is great that safety is so much better today but places like Indy,Nordschleife & Isle of Man TT are special because they really are what motorsport is about.
