Inexpensive VESA mount for 15 series aluminum extrusion

I recently built my triple monitor stand for my rig. During my searching for parts I looked for a very long time for VESA mounts that would work for the 15 series profile and mostly all I found was either really expensive or not in stock.

Then I checked on monoprice just to see if they had something that would be close. And I found this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6520

The specs show that the spacing between the top and bottom holes is right at 1.5", just what you need for a double wide piece of 15 series. Or at least close enough.

So I bought 3. I got them, and tried to mount them up and it was so close to being perfect. The holes we're big enough for the bolts I had for my T nuts and then the spacing was just slightly too far apart. That's the bad news.

Now the good news. You can drill the holes out pretty easily. I used a stepper bit like this: https://www.harborfreight.com/power...oated-high-speed-steel-step-drills-91616.html

I drilled the holes out to I think 9/16" and that gives enough play to make the mounts perfectly fit.

Hopefully this helps someone else trying to build a monitor stand on the cheap. Of course this also works with anything else you'd want to mount using a VESA mount
