F1 and NASCAR seem world's apart as one is on Roads courses with left and right turns and the other is mostly Ovals that only turn left. But there are similarity's like the way the car is driven. Mario Andretti drove NASCAR before F1 and Juan Pablo Montoya and Scot Speed ran it after F1 so it can not be that different as it seems.
