Been doing most of my racing over the past month or so with either the GT4 mod cars or some of the recently released modern GT3 cars. This morning I decided to make up a race using all of the original GT3 cars released with the game instead because I missed my beloved Z4. First thing I noticed was that my GPU memory usage was significantly lower. I imagine that is due to most stock cars using 2k skins and the modern mod cars using 4k. What I didn't understand was why my framerates were almost 25 fps higher. Same track, same graphical settings, only difference is the cars used.
What is it about the mod cars that would make such a huge difference in framerates? Do mod cars use more advanced physics than the stock cars. Would the complexity of the car models effect fps? I wouldn't think it would be due to the skin sizes since even using 4k skins, I don't max out my GPU memory.
Like I said, dumb question, but the nerd in me is curious.
