Lots of news in development at Electronic Arts, including Project CARS 4

Tom Henderson returns to talk again about the Electronic Arts home racing games, after having anticipated some of the F1 22 features. In his report on eXputer the well-known insider talked about 6 titles in progress at Electronic Arts

Project CARS 4
Henderson's first title is Project CARS 4, which according to his sources is in development at Slightly Mad Studios and will likely launch in 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC. In addition, with this new title SMS will return to its simulation roots, abandoned with the most recent Project CARS 3 in favor of a more arcade style. No official mention of the title has obviously been made by Electronic Arts over the past few months, but months ago Ian Bell, former CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, seemed to hint at the project's existence with a tweet (now deleted and no longer available) that read: "If Project CARS 4 is going to be fantastic it's all my doing. If it's not, I left (the company, ed.) 6 months ago"

World Rally Championship
Regarding WRC, Henderson sources have confirmed an annual title for consoles and PCs starting next year through 2027. A mobile title is also in the works to be released in this time frame.
The Unreal Engine will be used for the new series of titles and the first will be released by the end of EA's fiscal year 2023, which ends in March

F1 22 and F1 23
F1 22, already announced, will be the first title in the series to be released under the auspices of Electronic Arts, and will be the first to introduce features such as VR, crossplay and supercars

Regarding F1 23 Henderson and his sources report that while it hasn't been announced yet, and it won't be for quite a while, it has been in development for some time and will be the first true next-gen experience in the series, with the long-awaited updates to the series. game engine that should drastically change the experience. F1 23 will also see an expansion of the F1 Life mode debuting this year, called F1 World

Need for Speed and Need for Speed Mobile
Tom Henderson's report confirms the time window indicated by Jeff Grubb , with the release scheduled between October and December 2022, and provides us with some more explanations: according to the leaker, the development of the new chapter of Need for Speed has been troubled, with Criterion Games even being forced to stop the project in 2021 to aid in the development of Battlefield 2042.

As for the mobile chapter, a leak would have revealed gameplay and location, with the latter appearing to be a copy of the NFS Heat map. However, Henderson's sources report that it is not an identical map, but that it would present significant changes. The title will not feature the canonical story mode, but it will be an open world where it will be possible to meet other players at any time

A final thought goes to other racing series present among the Electronic Arts IPs: Burnout and GRID. Henderson reports that there is no title for the two franchises in development currently. Indeed, the GRID series may even be in jeopardy due to the disappointing GRID Legends, but at the moment it is too early to draw any conclusions. As for Burnout, according to Henderson it could be the next natural step for EA, but with such a large catalog of games in development, the Canadian giant could brush up on the series and propose remasters.
