Mallala Motorsport Park - Scratch made track of Mallala Motorsport Park near Mallala in South Australia.

Scratch made track of Mallala Motorsport Park, a 2.6 km (1.6 mile) bitumen motor racing circuit near the town of Mallala in South Australia, 55 km north of the state capital, Adelaide. More about the history of the track here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallala_Motor_Sport_Park

This is my first attempt at making a track, and I must say the whole learning process was made a lot easier by reading some very helpful tutorials by members of the Assetto Corsa community:

Fun layout... I've never even heard of this place but I felt like I knew my way around after about 2 laps. I agree with the sentiment that it's a bit dark overall, but it's a heck of a first effort for sure. Nice job.

Cheers aphidgod, Unfortunately I fear the real track will slowly fade into history, so I wanted to preserve it in some way. I will definitely look at updating the track lighting once I can hook up another monitor or use another computer. Thanks :)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply but that doesn't seem to be the answer.
I've tried fields of 16 cars all standard or a mix of third party addons and standard and even just one car [the Escort} in practice mode and the track won't load.
Disappointing as I love having Aussie tracks.

Have you tried just the Kunos Escort in a hot lap? Also try replacing the surfaces.ini in the Mallala\Data folder with this one http://www.mediafire.com/file/l4x0tinvy1y6t1j/surfaces.ini

Looks nice and runs well. But if there is a high res physics mesh it could use some love as the track is very flat.

But overall very good job, especially for being the first track. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Thank you Jebus :) No, no high res physical mesh for the road. That's my Achilles heel, I can't get my head around it.

Fellow Adelaidean here, and I am very sorry to have to be this negative, but you have got this almost completely wrong. From being too wide, being miles too bumpy, and inventing elevation from nowhere, I just don't know where you got your reference. Mallala is one of the flattest tracks in terms of elevation in the world, with there being less than 2 metres change. It's also very narrow. 10m off the top of my head last time I looked.

For some positive's, The track-side objects look pretty good (I would like to buy the stobie pole model!), and you've done better than most of us by releasing it a track.

I assume you've read some tutorials for it from the AC forums? If so and still it's hard maybe @LilSki (sorry for tagging but I think this track has a great potential and would be nice to get a proper physics mesh for it) could give some pointers.

Hi Jebus, Yes I have read through the tutorials, especially LilSki's. I will make a quick mock up section of track over the next couple of days and give it another go before attacking Mallala. Hopefully include it in the next update

I don't seem to get notifications of tags anymore. I just happened to look in here as I usually check out all new tracks. Anyway if you use blender I can send you some sample files of tracks I've done some meshes for. it will let you see how to use the displacement modifiers and such that are already setup. If you use 3DS max I'm not of much help on that.

Hi again,

Tried the surfaces.ini you posted and a practice lap with just the Escort but still no good.
I notice there's a Texture folder in the download which other tracks don't have - is that an issue?
Beats me that nobody else is experiencing this problem.

Thanks LilSki, I'm using 3DS Max..... I'll just have to see what the 3DS Max equivalent to the displacement modifier is and try a few things, until I find something comparable to your physical meshes.

The texture folder is for the camera facing crowd, but shouldn't be a problem. Only thing left for me to suggest is to do an integrity check of your local files through Steam.
