I think this one will pretty much wreck anything when it comes to laptimes.

"Remember how the McLaren P1 spent a whole day on the Nürburgring Nordschleife earlier this month? Well the rumour was that despite the clear track, the best lap time still wasn't significantly improved over the car's first appearance here. But a little bird has just told me that the incredibly-expensive P1's 'official' laptime is almost ready to be made public. [EDIT: A new source claims that laptime will not be made public as it's 5 seconds too slow!]
That same little birdy just told me that the revealed laptime will be 7m04s.
hello forum goers, i finally decided to join. Here are my thoughts:
A corvette zr1 on mspcs does 7:19 after having 2 hot laps, per the manufacturer (and a very good driver), compared to the p1 we see
-similar weight if anything the p1 should be lighter
-640hp vs 900+, huge advantage to the p1 that alone must be worth many many seconds on the ring
-zr1 has net lift, p1 has 1300 lbs of downforce, that must be worth many seconds. I've no idea how many, but downforce and aero is the whole game in real racing, isn't it? This must be worth 10 or 20 seconds. What would a viper without the huge rear wing and splitter of the acr run?
-the p1s tires i assume are slightly better
-the p1s brakes must be at least some better, and the downforce should mean significantly better braking
-drag down the big straight should be similar (i've read 0.34 for the p1 with the drs active)
-both cars have some neat suspension tech, but i can't believe that the zr1, which is fairly softly sprung and uses transverse leaf springs, doesn't lose something to the p1 with its mega-tech suspension in this area
-dct vs a manual must be worth some time
a dodge viper with no huge wing and 505 hp did car and drivers "lightning lap" in 3:01, a 600hp acr (wing, splitter) did it in 2:48. Thats 13 seconds out of a 3 minute lap for power and downforce, that would translate to roughly 30 seconds in a 7 minute lap.
From another angle, an lfa did 7:14... And the p1 with 60% more power, probably 10x the downforce, a more advanced transmission, less weight, better tires, more advanced suspension can only muster a 10 second (or 2%) improvement?
I don't buy it. A 7:04 would be shocking and disappointing in my view.
The McLaren P1 can generate 1,320lbs (599kg) of downforce 'well below' its top speed, five times more than a 12C.To put that into perspective, the race-built 2000 Panoz LMP1 Le Mans car in its low downforce configuration produced 2000lbs (907kg) at 150mph.
Zonda R - Aerodynamic setups rage from a high downforce setting of 1,500kg to a 350kmh top speed setting.
The Enzo itself produces 775 kg (not sure about this) of downforce at 186 mph, and the FXX has improved it's efficiency by 25%.
