Good announcing, wish they could have thrown a replay in the corner of the live broadcast. I mean, if YouTube streaming folks can put multiple cameras on screen simultaneously, the technology to do so can't be too tough.

Otherwise, the actual race was a bit boring in the front. Backmarkers saw more action.

Nope, other games were announced at the start with iRacing added yesterday I believe.

Wouldn't that be inaccurate to compare qualis from different games, somewhat, since perhaps there may be some variances in each game's version of the game's car and track?

Nobody is doing that. There are a total of four qualifiers, one on rFactor 2, one on Forza, one on a mobile game (sorry, forgot the name) and since about a week, one was announced on iRacing. Each round of qualifying results in one winner who joins the 6 pre-selected candidates for a "finals" day at McLaren. There they will be going through a "job interview" process, and the best of the 10 gets the job.

This Q&A answers most of the questions. Basically the top 10 drivers will face a number of tests to see if they are fit and suitable for becoming a simulator driver for McLaren. The 6 guys were pre-selected by the McLaren panel, they're guys who have already won everything on their sim racing platform. From rF2/iRacing, Greger Huttu and Bono Huis were chosen.

so then 10 finalists will not compete in races? and someone who uses a mobile app could end up in a simulator ? crazy ! they should give them all a week or so to practise iracing and rfactor 2 and iracing and race against each other on those platforms which are clearly more realistic than forza or f1 2016
