Missing downshift

Hi everyone

After more than a year I gave a try to this game.
I have tested the Formulas, the cars that I like to play the most and tested also with the GT3 and in both cars sometimes the gear even if I downshift remains in 8th.
I have this issue only downshifting and only with this game (I have also AC, ACC).

G920-Sprints

The issue is not always present. For instance Red Bull Ring turn 3 and almost always turn 4.
GT3 Brand Hatch turn 2 - 4

Do you know if it is a known issue or maybe there is a setting to change?

Many thanks

If it isnt some HW thing then its probably because they lately have integrated some kind of shift down prevention/delay.
Even in modern F1 cars that in RL can shift down instantly.
Looks like the dev responsible for this dont know what he is doing :poop:

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: Only solution is to shift down slower.

hey thanks for support.
Isn't a hardware issue the wheel works with no issue with other games.

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: back to the drawer... far far back!

The most regretted purchase really !

Some real life cars (both in motorsports and on the road) prevent downshifts that would result in the engine exceeding the rev limit. This is simulated in AMS2, and in some other sims.

The other thing that both AMS2 and some other sims have is a (configurable) setting to limit the minimum delay between gearshifts. This is because the switches used in game controllers can vary in quality significantly and can be prone to "bouncing", which is where the user actuates the switch once, but the controller's electronics see more than one actuation (very close together in time, think thousandths of a second) and send more than one event to the computer. The setting allows users of such controllers to tune out uncommanded double shifts.

My RL Audi A3 & S4 had that when using the the paddle shifters. It would only allow you to down shift during a certain rev range to protect the engine and tranny.

@CorvusCoraxUK

thanks for the explenation.

wierd because it does not happen always when downshifting ...

Anyway how can I fix it? Can you support me with more details ?

although I've played this title sporadically before I haven't had this problem and the fact that a user has to deal with files, debouncing etc is ridiculous.

When this happens the engine sound mute unresponsive... downshift, downshift, downshift, click click click and the gear remains (formula gen 2) at the 8th.

Same for the GT3 it sound a bug or not well developed.

Thanks

It would be best for you to report any issues here and maybe you can get help

It's likely the cars you are driving are full of driver aids and preventing you from downshifting as fast as you pull the shifters. Any flappy paddle street car I've driven in the last 15 or 20 years does this irl. Not trying to sound rude but it's likely your bad habits causing it. When sims started introducing this It took me a while to adapt due to being used to the game allowing me to downshift as fast as I can pull it. In iracing it still happens to me in the spec Miata sometimes so it's not only ams2. You can try blipping the throttle too as it'll raise the revs and allow you to shift.

Hi good morning

You did not sound rude at all.

As I said I haven't played this title for many reasons and and every time I try to play there is something wrong.

Thanks for the explanation but is there a way to fix it?

Have a nice day

What helped me was slowing my downshifts down especially in situations where the revs are high to begin with such as the second to last corner at Austria. The lower the gear the more I wait I believe it lessens my braking zone as well since the rear wheels won't hop or chirp at all. In situations where I prefer to not slow my shifts down I just blip the throttle. Since I've noticed that it's user error on my part it doesn't happen nearly as much to me but I still get caught out. What made me realize it was on my end for what was happening was the repeatability of the issue. It started getting to the point where I knew where to shift twice to hit one gear and I figured if started to know when it was gonna happen it was probably not a glitch.

thanks for your support advice and suggestions.

This game will remain on the edge of my enjoyment and isn't a big issue to tell the truth.

Thanks to everyone
