MODS won't load

Signed up for premium Content Manager and trying to load MODS. Skins, cars etc but none ever work. Every file is not supported and will not load at all. I am new to this and i don't have a clue where it is going wrong. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks!

I'm 99,99% sure you are doing something wrong.
What kind of mods are you talking about? When it's about cars, skins and tracks you just need to unpack the content with winrar or 7zip and put it in the right folder, easy peasy.
There is also an easier way, you just drag the .rar (or .7z, .zip, .whatever) into the content manager window and it install the mod by its own.
At first check google and youtube, there is a lot of tutorials on how to install mods.
If you don't solve please tell us the steps you follow to install mods so we can understand what you are doing wrong

So, I have premium content manager and i also have the sub for RD. I essentially download whatever i download and show the download in folder and drag it to Content Manager but everytime I get the error messages.

Maybe you are missing some Cm plugin. Go to settings -> Content manager ->plugin and check if you have the 7zip plugin installed. If not, install it.
Try to post the error message

If 7zip plugin is ok, are you sure you are downloading ac contents?

Or you could just install mods without CM, it's super easy and takes seconds once you learn to do it, and it always works if you do it right. CM is great but mod installation via CM isn't, judging by how AC forums are flooded with "I tried to install a mod via CM but it doesn't work, what do I do" posts. Even if it works it's kinda needless since installing mods to AC is super quick and easy. Some other games where mod managers make modding far easier and quicker but with AC most mods require nothing more than placing in the correct folder

So how would I go about that? Excuse my lack of knowledge towards this as I have transitioned from console to PC and its a whole new learn curve

Here is a tutorial: https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/mod-installing-tutorial-video.135781/

How I install mods is download, unzip, cut and paste to the correct folder, that's it. Some mods have the folder structure already in place so you just move content folder to AC main folder, others require knowing the right folder where to put it which isn't very difficult if you take a moment to figure out how the folder structure works. A track goes to content/tracks, a car skin goes to content/cars/(car folder)/skins and so on.

Help Please!

Downloaded the new TechArt mod for AC, went into the game and saw it as usual for all cars. Tried to drive it but the mod will not load. Meaning, the track won't open for a lapping session. This also happened to me recently with a Corvette C8 Z06 I downloaded and a Mercedes Project One. All my other cars and tracks work fine, including other mod tracks and cars I have downloaded in the past (these other mods were probably downloaded 18+ months ago). I have all Kunos AC DLC loaded.

Anyone know why a new car mod might not work? I did a search for some answers but the results mostly brought up how to dl and install a mod, which I know I have done right in the past and I also see the mods in the game after I install them. But I cannot get on track with the new cars. I am not using CM, I am putting the extracted mod folder in the AC content/cars folder in Steam. It shows up in game to select but does not work.

So, if you are not using CM with Custom Shader Patch, there is the reason why some mods won't work, like the Techart. For the Techart, for example, the CSP is mandatory, otherwise the mod won't work. This is also mentioned in the installation instructions from the Techart. Some mods are using some CSP features, like CSP physics and without CSP, AC is not able to load these mods. Thats the reason why your AC will crash, if you want start a race with these mods.

Is there a reason, why you don't want Content Manager and CSP?

Thank you so much for the helpful, well written reply! I've had AC since the pre-launch beta with the Lotus, bought all the dlc and really enjoyed the emphasis on street cars. However, over the last few years I have not played it as much and while I had seen that the modding community were hard at work on it I never dove back in and checked all the resources out. Recently a few mod videos hit my Youtube feed and I thought I would dl a few cars and see about their quality. Street car mods a few years ago seemed to be higher quality if they were based on a Kunos original car (like upgrading from a 488 to a 488 Pista) vs. a from scratch made car mod where some of the physics really felt wonky. But the selection has become pretty tremendous so thus the few downloads.
But to be honest, I don't really know about CM, CSP or what it takes to install them. Do you need CM for the newer mods or can you use just the CSP?

You need CM to have the CSP with all the features. I would definitely recommend the CM. it may seem a bit overwhelming at the beginning, because you can make countless settings in the CM and the CSP, but you won't recognize your AC again. CM incl. CSP upgrades AC extremely and once you have gotten to know all the features and settings, you won't want to do without them anymore. mods can also be easily installed via drag'n'drop via CM. and if you need help with settings or installation, there are probably many others here besides me who can help you.

I think this video can help you a lot:
