There's only so much we can fit into normal Practice, Quali, Race schedule and one of the best ways to improve the game would be to add more different kinds of sessions.
Freeroam mode (AI Traffic)
Shutoko being possibly the best example, there's a huge part of AC community that loves cruising/racing on the streets and having actual moving traffic (with adjustable density) brings a very good deal to the experience. AI doesn't need to be complicated on this, so the implementation shouldn't be the worst thing to do.
Improved Qualifying (Q1, Q2, Q3, Solo, Multi-class, Best Average etc.)
We need IRL qualifying formats for sure. Not only to bring immersion of an F1 or Indycar weekend, but also to simplify the sessions by using solo mode with only you being on the track. Very helpful on longer tracks like Nordschleife. Also giving an option to put only your class on the track in a quali session would help a lot.
Let us force players/AI to use the same tyre they had going for the fastest lap in qualifying.
Let us put as many sessions of any kind as we need plus reverse grids
It would be the best to not have a limited amount of races to maximum number of 2. That's about it. Don't forget about reverse grids please.
Turn-based events for RoC-like racing, Formula Drift etc.
It would be nice to have both: races simultaneously happening for everybody (1vs1 eliminations, solo time attacks etc.), but also turn-based events where every duo has to wait for its turn to go.
Imitations of Formula Drift competition are quite strong within Assetto Corsa community, but they have a very raw form right now, so this would be a great aid.
However, in such scenario, please don't remove an option of driving to a start point from your garage on your own, as it brings a lot of immersion value. Just a small thing to point out.
Prequalifying (Online Time Attack?)
Let servers organize proper prequalifying that would store as one result at the end of it. Very helpful when creating league events.
