it would have required a rewrite of the timing code and Stefano said it was not worth it to do for only a single track. Would have probably needed an extra flag like

"if start-finish is crossed before timing mark X is reached = reset timing"

Wasn't there at least some talk of a modified .kn5 file that removed the barriers so one could complete the short outlap on the Nürburgring?

I asked for this back in the day. It is frustrating having to do a whole lap beforehand.
