Need some Exp help in build.

I'm just getting back into Sim racing, so I'm in the process of building a new system. And it's been 12 yrs since I've built one. I've just ordered a 5900x CPU and waiting for my Rtx 3080 , but I'm stuck on the motherboard.
Is there I need to look for in a good motherboard for a triple screen setup.
Thnx

With the motherboard it really comes down to whether you ever plan to overclock the CPU and whether there are any particular features you want (wifi, etc).

Off the top of my head the best brands to look for are Asus, ASRock, MSI and Gigabyte. I would take a look at their websites see what boards they offer that work with the 5900x and then compare the features.

Then once you've narrowed it down a bit I'd look at some reviews on Youtube (JayzTwoCents and Gamers Nexus are two that I trust the opinion of, but there are plenty of PC hardware reviewers out there, just take things with a pinch of salt if they say everything's amazing...).

Unfortunately I don't have much experience with AMD CPUs so can't offer any specific recommendations, other than confirming that you definitely made a good choice with the 5900x and 3080!

You need to choose between the B550 or X570 chipsets. B550 is cheaper with "less" functionality but absolutely fine whereas X570 has more bells and whistles for overclocking, SLI, etc. At the end of the day a quality B550 board will have all the performance, IO, and features you need while saving $100-$300.

TL;DR: Go with Asus... three potential boards below (2 B550, 1 X570)

B550

X570

With Ryzen you really don't need to worry too much about overclocking the CPU unless you're interested in benchmarking scores. With a 5900x you should be OK anyway but sims aren't the best optimised for multicore so you'll find a big chunk off your CPU will be sitting there with it's feet up not doing a lot. Support for PCIE Gen 4.0 is good to have for fast storage etc. I've got a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite, 3700x and a 3080 and it's working fine with DD1 and and Clubsport V3s on USB with a bunch of other stuff plugged in. No VR so not sure if I'd have issues with that but the OP is running triples so that's going to be down to the 3080's outputs, NVIDIA drivers and the in game setup.

Get motherboard has Wifi / Bluetooth (not for internet use Lan for that )

Wifi your phone can use data means you don't need lots of GB on phone ( I use 1GB a month account saves me heaps, all downloads are done from Wifi basically for free )

Bluetooth headphones for TV - Movies - Sport a must
Tablet Wifi for simhub / simdashboard

Something else to consider is if you want to go with a small form factor case and an ITX mobo vs. mid-tower and ATX. Same chipsets for ITX as ATX, just smaller form board with fewer PCI-E slots and IO.

ITX

ATX
