New GIMX user, help!

Hey guys,

Just got my new GIMX adapter to (hopefully) make the OSW work in games that don't offer support for it. I have it all configured, recognised and buttons and axis assigned but I am still having problems with it in the actual games. I am having the weird issues that plague the HE Pro Pedals without the GIMX (which is the menus use the pedals to select things and force the menu to a certain point and not letting you select other things like you normally would) while actually using the GIMX. I would have thought having the pedals come across as G27 pedals that this would have been fixed.

Long story short, anyone that's used the GIMX adapter to make titles like SLRE, WRC 7 and V Rally 4 work with unsupported hardware (I am using OSW, HE Pro's, shifter and handbrake) PLEASE let me know if there are any quirks or extra settings that I am missing to make it work as others have described it.

I had a problem in SLRE (edit: and/or WRC 7) where my HE Pro''s would move the menu choice all the way to the side and I had to move the accelerator pedal to the middle to stop it. I believe I had to connect my Xbox 360 controller to make the menus work properly. I haven't played in over 6 months so not 100 % sure and pc is not working atm so I can't check what I did.

I do know that SLRE worked fine after whatever I did and also WRC 7.

What game are you talking about?

All of the above :)

The ones you mentioned were the problem ones in menu's. I do have a Dualshock 4 here that I use as a pad, so I might connect that and see how we go. That was one of the first things I was going to do after I posted for help. I've also had a suggestion from the forums over there that says to enable inverted axis. I did try finding that option but I had no luck. I will try that too as they've pointed me to it with directions.

Also V Rally 4, works fine in menu's but FFB is mental and not proper at all. Hopefully the inverted fixes some of that, too.

I must be doing something wrong or missing something, because people (like you) have the same hardware I do and seem to have it working. Thanks for the tip I'll give it a try now.

I've gotten WRC 7 to work last night. The Dualshock 4 sorted the buggy menu inputs with the pedals. I use the controller to get to the driving bit, then change the controller type to the wheel to start driving. It works fairly well if a little annoying. FFB I am still working on getting something that feels good but at the moment, it's drivable and feels fairly believable.

V Rally 4 however, is a disaster. The feedback in that game is abysmal at the moment. I am going to try some more now but I just don't even feel like I am driving the car. Which is a real shame as I had high hopes that it would be the best of the bunch being the latest released. I am still yet to try SLRE but I'll do that soon as well.

So overall, the adapter is working but to get it to properly make the games not work stupidly it's still a little trial and error. Now that I know the controller helps the menu issues, I should have a better time of it. Being an OSW user I also have the opportunity to tweak the feeling in Simucube so there is hope even if initally the game might feel like garbage.

Glad to hear you are getting somewhere. FFB/steering in WRC 7 was a limp and laggy disaster for me as well. I belive I experimented with the wheels' degrees of rotation + trying various settings in the in-game FFB menu before I got it sorted to OK ish.

One thing about SLRE, I have to choose wheel in the controller menu every time I start the game since the game defaults to keyboard.

And yes, trial and error it is. We are pc players after all, haha.

The same way I got the other titles to work, but with less fuss through the menus. Also, keep in mind that the axis bindings have an 'inverted' toggle (on the right of the screen where it shows the bar to test the axis) that you may need to enable or disable depending on what you find in game. That said, it will only 'invert' the FFB, not enable it if you don't have any at all.

I haven't gone back to it yet as I'm super busy and it seems that testing Oculus software to make it run acceptable for league racing is all I've done the past 10 or so days. Once I do, I'll update some settings and hopefully others can make use of them. I will say that it was HORRIBLE when I tried it. It worked, but there is no way I'd spend any time in it at all if that's the way the FFB will remain. I'm hoping for a better outcome. WRC 7 is not too bad though. I wanted to keep driving and tweaking so it has potential. I did have it feeling pretty good on my old CSW but then I upgraded and lost what I did.
